About/About us
Unplug RV was started by two people who spent their careers inside RV dealerships and didn't like what they saw. It began as mobile RV repair and grew to five technicians, a shop in Lincoln and a used-RV lot. Sales came second, and that order is the whole point. Everything we sell goes through our own bays first, and everything we fix is quoted in writing at a rate we publish.
Our story
Branden Kollmar started selling RVs in 2006. He was good at it — the top salesperson in the country for national brands including Grand Design and Pleasure-Way. Sam Slaughter spent most of his career on the other side of the building, in RV finance and dealership management. Both grew up in California's Central Valley; Branden went to UCLA, Sam to Fresno State.
They worked at the same dealership, and they kept disagreeing with the same decisions. How customers were treated once they reached the service department. How employees were treated generally. Which RVs got bought for the lot, how they were marketed, where the money went.
The part that stuck was service. Customers who had just bought a new RV waited months to use it while it sat in line for warranty work — and when the shop finally got around to it, the workmanship was poor enough that it often had to go back. The dealership took their money at the sales desk and left them behind at the service desk. Branden was the one who had shaken their hand. Eventually the question stopped being "why do they do it this way" and became "why don't we just do it better."
So Unplug RV started with the part of the business that was most broken: service. Mobile first — a tech goes to the customer instead of the customer's RV sitting in a lot for two months waiting on a part. Written estimates. A labor rate published on the website. Technicians who are paid well and treated well enough to stay, because happy technicians are where happy customers come from.
Sales came later, because customers kept asking the same question after a repair: "can you find me a better one than this?" Most dealers sell you an RV and hand you somebody else's phone number when it breaks. Every unit on our lot goes through our own bays before it's listed — same technicians, same inspection, same standards we apply to a customer's coach. When something goes wrong afterwards, you're calling the people who worked on it.
How we run it
Labor is $225 an hour, flat-rate from industry guides. Mobile adds one $75 call-out per visit. It's on the website so the number on the phone matches the number on the invoice.

Parts, labor and timeline, in writing, before we order anything. When there's a real choice — OEM with a warranty or aftermarket without — you get both prices and our honest pick.
Mobile techs diagnose where it's parked, and it stays there while parts ship. No storage-lot limbo, no lot damage, no summer lost to a waiting list.
A service writer takes your first call and stays with the job through the invoice. You always know who to text, and they always know where your part is.
No transmissions, delamination, paint and body, hydronic heat or full conversions. You'll hear that on the phone, along with who we'd send you to.
Every RV we sell gets the same inspection we charge $675 for, a safety check before delivery, a 30-day warranty and a free two-hour orientation.
Who you'll deal with
Fun facts
Branden is legally blind. He was still the number-one salesperson in the country for Grand Design and for Pleasure-Way — which says something about knowing the product cold and listening to the customer.
Sam's great-uncle was Ross Bagdasarian Sr. — the Fresno-born songwriter behind "Witch Doctor" and the creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Sam does not do the voice. We've asked.
Camping is supposed to be about unplugging and relaxing, and that's hard to do with a slide that won't come in. Also: it was easy to spell and the web address was available.

Questions
Both, in that order. Repair came first and is still most of what we do. Sales exists because our customers asked for it, and every unit is inspected and repaired by the same techs before it's listed.
The main shop is at 1020 Airport Rd, Bldg B in Lincoln, with a by-appointment location inside Outrig RV Storage at 3080 Promenade St in West Sacramento. But most repairs happen wherever the RV is parked, anywhere from Wilton to Grass Valley and Woodland to Colfax.
Camping is supposed to be about unplugging and relaxing — and nobody relaxes with a slide that won't come in. Fixing that is our job. The other honest answer: it was easy to spell and the web address was available.
"They found a faulty ground wire the shop that replaced the inverter before them didn't catch. Really awesome and local here in Lincoln."
